Trespassing the Future by Daniel Clark

July 6th, 2008 8:19 PM / Location: 36.013812,-114.9773

INSTRUCTIONS: Go to a place you will not be able to go to in 10 years; for instance, a place under development that will never be the same again.

There is a place I've looked at from a car window for years. It looked so out of place, among all the dry cleaning stores and corporate buildings. Buildings have been slowly going up around it, obscuring my view of it from the road. So, finally, I went in to get a closer look.

There it was. Red and white like a story book. But what is this? A sign in front proclaiming it's impending sale. This old barn is the last remaining bit of old Henderson in a sea of urban landscape. So I set out to explore it before it dissapears.

Pristine and storybook from afar, it contains much more wonder up close. Age sits upon it like a heavy quilt. Wood with deep canyons, brick with fractured supports. Devoid of any previous occupants it groans in the night air.

I'll hate to see this when it's a parking lot.

That's very sad.

Beautiful photos!

How long did you have to set the exposure to get the stars like that?

The exposures varied but the average was about 20 seconds.

Thanks so much.
