Naked Mail by Sombrero Guy

INSTRUCTIONS: Send some.

I haven't done a task in ages. It's time to rectify the situation.
This is an idea that was lying untouched in my brain for a long time. I could send not just one item, but many. They could all be linked in some way. Then I thought, maybe they have to all be physically brought together for the task to be complete.
So I hunted around several shops for one of those 3D puzzles. What I found was a yellow cube in seven pieces. Perfect.
There's only one place where I know a large enough number of SFZerians for this. So, over the next few weeks I gathered the addresses of seven of those friendly Players who reside in Great Yarmouth.
At first I was just going to send the pieces blank, but then I decided it would be more interesting to draw on them, although it would make the puzzle easier to complete. So I put the cube together and unleashed my inner artist (yes, I know it's not very good). I drew the logos of SFØ, UKØ and GYØ. Then I added a short message in terrible handwriting. It's surprisingly hard to write on plastic, even if it is a flat surface. Block capitals was all I could manage. The other problem I found was that the 'permanent' marker I wrote with wasn't. The plastic puzzle is obviously in that 0.1% of surfaces which it won't work on. So I went out and bought another marker.

The next step was posting the pieces. Four of them fitted within the dimensions allowed for a 'large letter'. The other three were too tall, and cost me £1.08 each. This quite quickly became the most expensive task I've ever completed. After writing the addresses on some cardboard tags, applying stamps and securing the tags to the bits of plastic with string, they were ready to be posted.

I walked around Bournemouth town centre and, just for fun, didn't post two pieces in the same postbox. Then I waited. A few days later, one of the pieces had arrived. This gave me hope that the rest would follow, but I wasn't confident in Royal Mail. My doubts were misplaced however, as by the following day, all the pieces had arrived at their destinations.

I have proved that the postal service is better than many people make it sound. The thing I should have doubted more was the permanence of the marker I was using. Most of the things I had drawn and written were smudged or faded.
The cube was eventually put together, despite one of the recipients being absent at university. I think it is currently in the care of Rob.

Now it is in the hands of GYØ they can do whatever they want with it. Throw it away, I'd imagine.
Anyway, thanks to GYØ for your cooperation and photography. Now it's your turn to start tasking again.

I leave you with these photos I was provided with when a couple of GYZerians received their pieces of plastic:

Good to see Ben & Tom again, even if it's in somebody else's praxis.
It's good to see you tasking again, Hombre del Sombrero.

And it's nice to be back, Lincoln.
Hopefully I might get a couple more done over the Christmas break. I have so many plans; it's a pity quite a lot of them require other people living in the same place...

A bunch of new tasks to do eh? Hmm...

You won't believe the groan when Rob said he'd forgotten the pieces of the cube he had the second day of gathering it together!

Lovely completion.

My card is totally on top of the pile in that image.

Also, I really need to get more tasks done, I've had one in mind for ages :\

Also, yes, the Cube is in my care. I refer to it as the AllSpark!

NO WAY IS IT BEING THROWN AWAY *Looks at cube sitting on shelf*

Oh dear, I shouldn't have fed your Transformers obsession...

And yes, you do need to task more. That goes to GYZero in general... :P
If you have any ideas for long-distance collaborations, let me know. I always like to be working with other people on these things.

Well done :) Nice way to bring together lots of SF0'ers and do a silly task at the same time!
