Dérive by GYØ Vicki

This isn't as full a completion that I would like to do, but when my mother woke me up this morning and told me to look at the window, I thought it would be a rather good idea. The reason?
It is snowing on Easter Monday!
I got up, looked out of the window, donned the fluffy socks, coat, hat and wellies and went into the back garden. My, it was cold! I din't actually realise how thick the snow was, a couple of inches is a rarity in the East of England. I wandered round my garden a bit, taking a few pictures, when I realised that my back garden is pretty boring, so I put my head round the door and asked if I could go for a wander. So, off I went.
I started off in my front garden, then wandered across the road and down to St Catherines Road. I then headed up there and onto Magdalen Square, where I spent a good fifteen minutes wandering around, avoiding a few snowballs and sitting on the snow =P. People didn't really mind me randomly walking around taking photographs, two people told their children not to "throw snowballs at the girl, it's not polite", to which I chuckled. I also got a compliment on my wellies, which I think are pretty cool.
After Magdalen Square, I wandered down Magdalen Way and past the shops. It's quite weird how quiet it is down there, there's normally half a dozen old people doing their shopping, a few teenage mums and a handful of chavs, but alas, I was one of the very few mad ones who decided to brave the cold. I then decided, since my mum said not to be too long, to head back home down Worcester Way. I thought it was quite ironic, there's a palm tree down there, covered in snow.
The dérive didn't go on for very long, due to the fact that my mum doesn't like me wandering around for too long. A selection of my photos, probably the last on my current camera, new one is on the way.
EDIT - To comply with Ben's expectations =P:
Apart from the semi-extreme cold, I felt pretty alive, and in someway, lonely. I realised that I didn't know hardly any people in my area apart from my two neighbours. I never also realised how quiet and peaceful my neighbourhood could be. Normally, like I said above, there are half a dozen chavs standing outside Forbouys, and that makes it rather scary to go near there. The only people I saw out this morning were families with young children and older people. It's quite weird how the weather can change so many things about a place, not just the scenery.
It also reinstated the belief in myself that I enjoy my own company, and don't need to rely on others to stop me from getting bored. I think that if someone else had come with me, it wouldn't have been the same.

I wish i could do something like that. I think that I'd get stopped by boredom somewhere along the way though
I'm also really jealous of your awesome snow
But what did you FEEL?
What did you DISCOVER about yourself?
What did you SEE that you didn't SEE before?
