INSTRUCTIONS: Take a childhood pastime to the extreme.

I actually completed this task a month or two ago, and just now got around to putting together the proof (having finally finished with school for the year). When I started playing SF0 my long-term goal was to get to the point that I didn't need tasks to prompt me to do wacky things, and I think it bodes well for my progress towards that goal that I can find time to task when busy, but not to format the documentation (which is by far the easier part of actually submitting the proof).

Anyway, now that I'm back from my hiatus, and without further ado:

The floor is made of lava!!!

By far the best childhood game around, it brings the excitement and adventure of books, movies, and video games to life, and has near limitless potential for expansion. I've always enjoyed, as Eddie Izzard would say, running jumping climbing trees, and over the years I've gotten substantially better at it. When I was young episodes of The Floor Is Made Of Lava would generally involve jumping between pieces of furniture that were relatively close together. Now, however, I can make more interesting and difficult paths.

I present to you two extreme paths for The Floor Is Made Of Lava. The first is filling up a water bottle in my dorm, which involves going through two offset doorways in a hall. The second is climbing six trees without touching the ground in between. They have been sped up and set to music for your viewing pleasure.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

I'd like to note that the reason I fell the first time in my dorm was that the door to the bathroom opens in and to the right from the camera's perspective, and can't open all the way, meaning I couldn't actually get my back flat against the door frame. For what it's worth. The second time I was just tired.

By far the most nerve-wracking part of these climbs was the part labeled "harder than it looks" during the tree transfers. The things I have to hold onto there are 1) the bottom lip of a place where a branch has been cut off and the living wood has curled around a little bit, and 2) a slightly raised part of the tree just above that no-longer branch. These are what we would affectionately call slopers at a climbing gym, and I'm *swinging* from them with my feet 6 or 8 feet off the ground.

There are some times when you look on the main page- and you see a specific name matched up with a specific task, and you say: "Yes. This is going to be good."

You are usually right when you think such things.

Definitely. And the above comment, courtesy of one of those people.

Yeah. I am assuming this task kicks ass, and when I next find my way to a computer with flash that works I will find out for certain. But it sure sounds like it from the text.

I like this task, and I have voted, but I don't see that it was taken to the extreme.
As such, I will attempt to do this task, the way you have, and turn it up to 11.

Hehehehe.

Send me a message when you do, in case I miss it. I may have to try to top it.

Is that a challenge?

I believe it is.

Though it sounds more like a War of Escalating Lava Avoidance than a traditional Glove Slap.

If this turns into a floor-is-lava war, I will gladly join it.

Does anyone know what's up with Radioactive, Illuminated, Enervated, Obligated, and Adaptable?

Yes. They are the latest after the Susybots, the Probots, and then the herbs and spices.

Eventually SSI will delete them and restore our scores to where they belong. Hopefully eventually whoever is behind them will either give up (since all they're doing is causing a minor nuisance, as opposed to getting any sort of lasting results) or get their IP blocked or something.

Sock Puppets hope that the behavior of these few evil puppets will not result in the indiscriminate deletion of all Sock Puppets.

I agree, some sock puppets contribute positively to the community.

Personally I would much rather see the indiscriminate deletion of the non-puppet who is behind these than of other puppets.

I love this game. My (now) husband and I played it on our second date. Good job for once again surviving that killer lava.
