Six (or more) Degrees of Kevin Bacon's rock band by Eddie Arlette

I wanted to see if I could get from the first punk band, The Ramones, to the ultimate in bombastic and banal, Barry Manilow, who ruled the airwaves at the same time that The Ramones were celebrating kitschy pop culture with stylized stupidity. The journey started off promisingly, but quickly devolved into flashback of a musically-tortured youth. Intensive therapy will be require to get those damn tunes OUT OF MY BRAIN....
1) Ramones
2) Talking Heads - so far, so good
3) The Tubes - satirical outrageous performance art, wow, that brought back memories
4) Steely Dan - anybody got some qualudes?
5) Elton John - abandon all hope, ye who enter here
6) 3 Dog Night - attack of the killer bullfrog!
7) Neil Diamond - make it stop, make it stop...
8) Barry Manilow - must...retain...higher...brain...func....
