Reverse Shoplifting by Ohrlyeh Totenkinder

April 28th, 2007 9:12 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Insert an object into a store. Make sure your object can be bought.

Addendum: I wrote this in a super hurry trying to get this task in the mail for Disintermediate the Submit Proof Button
I had been planning this one since I started playing. I had submitted a task last era with this same name but with a bit more restriction involving specifically altering clothes and then returning them to the shelves. The task being more open for interpretation works allot better. I got the idea for this because I HATE Urban Outfitters....HATE THEM. I’ve gotten a majority of my favorite clothes from thrift stores, so to have a corporate giant moving in on my shopping action and buying up all the good clothes, then reselling them at boutique prices, really chaps my ass. As a member of HC I am subverting this element of the crisis by improving thrift store clothes and then returning them to the people to be purchased for the price they should....thrift store prices.

I went to the Goodwill in Burlingame. I figured they would get less traffic and better stuff since they are in Richie Richville. I found some nice stuff. Three men's shirts (one for me) a girl's shirt and a skirt. They were having a sale, so I was able to get everything for 8 bucks. NICE!

From my time at CCA I had saved one screen that I really liked. I always had the intention of putting it on a jacket of mine, but I never got around to it.

I printed the shirts and two for myself.

I returned the shirts to the GIANT Goodwill on Van Ness in SF. I figured more people who would actually need cheap original clothes would come across my stuff there.

I got followed by an employee for a while who had seen me futzing with my backpack...I was taking stuff out not loading stuff in, but I thought it ironic that I received the same reaction whether I was reverse shoplifting or just shoplifting. The guard also told me to not let a manager see me taking pictures, because it was against the rules.

That skirt is the bomb. If I was anywhere near that store I would be rushing out to buy it!

I can't believe you're taking advantage of this task's Featured status to advance your political campaign. For shame!

p.s. Only the first image is displayed large-ly on the front page. Rotate your slogans (or just ditch the others) as appropriate

What a shameless plug!

What an underhanded trick!

Almost as underhanded as an opponent stealing said trick :)

As his campaign manager.......

LIBEL!!!!!!!!

P00n has done nothing wrong.

Actually another player has done something similar and possibly much more visibly. P00n has every right to promote himself!
