Object Annotation by Caroline The Curly
November 15th, 2007 9:25 AMI'm not certain what the administration will think, but a history teacher passed me when I was taping the letter up, and looked at me a bit funny, but didn't say anything. I've seen one student so far read it, but maybe more have, I've been in class, and its only been up an hour and a half. I'm going to take pictures of it fairly often, like every hour or two, from whereever I am, which class I'm in, though I don't think you can always see the note from all angles. (well, we have two parts of our campus, and you can't even see the naked man from much of campus, but from the parts you can...) It was really fun, and gave me a thrill, brining tasking to school.
So heres the note:

and lil close up:

The note reads:
"Dear Naked Man,
You captured my eye from the moment I first set foot on campus. I must admit that I admire your courage, to stand outside in the courtyard, day after day, braving the elements, teenage pranksters, things larger than you hanging from you, and swords. You probably have more pictures published of you and your genitalia than anyone else I know. And yet you aren’t really sexual. I must tell you, I never did think that your artist did a good job with your pecker and balls, they don’t looks quite as real as most of you. Or perhaps they just aren’t quite sized right for you…. I’m not sure. I’m sorry, I don’t mean to dis you good sir, for you are astoundingly brave, and heroic, and valiant, for who else has faced so many swords swung and pointed and poked so near such a tender area, without complaint? (I know that the males on the fencing team complain greatly if we hit them there with foils. * evil grin* ) You are always a good sport, and always ready to be gawked at by all the new, young naïve freshies shocked by a naked statue on campus.
More than just all of these things though, truly, Naked Man, you are a symbol of our freedom, of the freedom allowed us by the administration, for while they do limit us in many ways, what other high school has a naked statue perpetually in their courtyard? I applaud you, and appreciate you, Naked Man. Thank you, Naked Man."
And this is Naked Man, in all his nude glory:

and there we go: annotated object:

Later, when I was at fencing practice, I saw lots of the team reading the letter, so I snapped a couple pics of them reading it, but mostly, I wasn't quick enough to get my cam out of my backpack and turned on in time to take a pic.

greg was reading it, with a bunch of other guys.
then amanda read it, and the guys who had just finished reading it stood around talking.

At one point, I glanced back from fencing and saw that someone had covered the Naked Man's crotch with a global action club poster, but my affronted fellow fencers quickly took it down. Since I had just seen Mischa reading it, and he is president of global action club, I would like to think that it was inspired in some way by my note, though I dislike his message. Naked Man is a symbol, and he must not be covered up! fortunately or unfortunately, Naked Man was renakidified faster than I could turn on my camera for a pic. so no pick of clothed in paper naked man.
it went up around 8 am, and was still there when I left at 4:30. I'll keep you updated on whether its still there. :D
unfortunately, due either to rain last night, or perpetual sf fog, the note is no more. a life span of less than 24 hours. sad. (actually, it is there, but its just a lump of pulpy paper. I need to go throw it away :( )
the note

for some reason it keeps tilting it like this, I don't know why, it doesn't show up sideways on my comp. oh well. see the lil sfo logo there?!
the note

a close up excerpt from the note. again, for some silly reason its sideways, don't know why.

cool :D thank lol. me, I like using pictures to document tasking, I guess I feel like a text write-up isn't as effective at documenting it, and you can make it up. Well, hour 3, and the note is still up. lol :D
Hey Ms. New Player Caroline The Curly -
You actually don't HAVE to post your task if you want it to just save the write-up. Just click the "update description" button under the text box and it'll be saved. Just like that! Just don't click the "submit proof" button on the bottom. And when you go back to it, it'll still be there in all its glory. Then, you can add pictures, and when it's super-perfect, submit it. 'Cause you only get one chance for it to be a the top of the praxis.
And I'll tell you what - if you put some pikchas up, I promise to vote.
I didn't know that. thank you very very much B.MHANCM. I thought that submitting it was hte only way to sve a work in progress. Thanks :D
You get my vote for documenting people's reaction to your annotation. Kewl!
well, it used to be a proper jewfro, but the director made him cut it for the play, and now its only a mini jewfro. lol we have a lot of jewish guys at my school with curly hair that is very afrolike, so we call them jewfros. glad you think its eloquent. always a compliment :D
Not to be confused with a minijew fro. Thats different.
I like that you brought it to school, and I like that you're keeping track of it. I'm also trying to be better about not relying on pictures for tasking, and the candid feel of this initial write-up gets my vote pre-picture-posting.
