As it happens, two of my household have joined so far...*smile*.
Don't worry, I have been flamed by truly mean and obnoxious people, having been a poster to usenet for many years back in the heyday. Your message was sensible, to the point, not mean, and educational. Rather than driving me away, it has in fact made me more engaged.
It was not clear to me at the time I selected that task that I would have to monitor it myself before submitting it. I saw the conditions on the task, but at the time assumed there was something in the system which would track the invitations, acceptances, etc.
Perhaps, if many people are making this mistake, it's not the people but the task (or general introductory documentation) that is the problem? I hope I'm not unduly thick-headed, but it wasn't until I worked on a few tasks and then saw this criticism that I understood how the whole system worked. Perhaps either the task definition could be significantly clarified or it could require more points to even try it. That might also help because people can perhaps explain it better to their friends if they have moderate experience before inviting anyone.
It has been pointed out to me that "giants play here" should be "giants played here".
