The Aesthetics of Minutiae by beverly penn, Ink Tea
June 27th, 2006 4:17 PMAll those paintings of women, in art galleries, surprised at private moments. Nymph Sleeping. Susanna and the Elders. Woman Bathing, one foot in a tin tub -- Renoir, or was it Degas? Both, both women plump. Diana and her maidens, a moment before they catch the hunter's prying eyes. Never any paintings called Man Washing Socks in Sink.
--Margaret Atwood, The Blind Assassin

You should have seen the ones I didn't use. You make awfully fun faces while being so graceful.
or at least, I wish I could give you more than 3 bonus points. Amazing paintings, both.
I am an avid flosser, but it always incorporates my squinting into a mirror with floss ungracefully coiled between my index fingers on both hands, and never my foot in the air.
I really like how "Man Clipping Fingernails" looks a lot like one of Degas's pastels...
Is the dancer quoting him too, or something else, or nothing?
Yes, I was thinking of Degas, partially because I had Beverly Penn as a model, and I knew her dark secret.
That photo made me laugh and laugh! That is perhaps the most ridiculous (in a very good way) picture of me ever taken.
Oh, Ink, you did a splendid job!
