In Fourth Grade I met my friend Kristin at Summer Camp. We didn't live near each other so we decided to become pen pals, although both of us being woefully unspectacular at wrighting consistantly we managed to send the occasional letter and managed to stay in touch much longer then any other ill fated penpal attempt of the past. Twards the end of junior high/ begining of highschool we lost touch for good which saddened me greatly. But using the aid of unfortunitly lame, but very useful facebook I was able to stalk...er um... track her down and wright her a note suggesting we meet up and continue our pen pal status. I've not heard a reply yet, but I'm pretty excited.
Update:
She wrote back! and not only does she live in the same city as me, she lives in my neighborhood! this is all very strange. I think we may live to close to be penpals, as it seems a horrible waste of postage. But Horray for a new, old friend.

It's great that she lives closer than you realised! Nice story.
Update us to whether she replies and if you actually start writing again.
