Instructional Video by Ziggy C.

April 28th, 2007 11:15 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Create an instructional video.

Ugh. This was such a pain to make. I took countless retakes, until I got the genius idea of the script. That solved everything. Some of the funniest parts of making this were the screw ups where I messed up the very first sentence. "Hello, my fellow FFZero players, this is Ziggy Stee", and then me and my girlfriend (who was watching) proceeded to crack up. I had several others that were equally idiotic. In any case, through much frustration and experimentation, I finally got it.

I should also note that this is slightly embarrassing for me to put up, simply because I hate how my voice sounds on a recording. My voice sounds an octave deeper in recording than it seems in person, and it just seems really irritating. It might just be me, but regardless, I hope you can all bear with it.

Instructional Video on How To Make An Instructional Video (YouTube Edition)

---

NOTE: I'm having trouble uploading it to SF0. Whenever I try uploading it directly at the submit/edit proof page, after a bit I get "Error uploading...". The file is too big for my university e-mail system to attach it to an e-mail in order to send it to my SF0 Media Folder. I uploaded to Photobucket thinking that I could then add the file from the URL, but Photobucket converted the file from .mpg to .flv, with which I get "Error Uploading..." instantly. If anyone could help me (maybe suggest a file hosting site that will keep the .mpg format), it would be much appreciated.

That's great! I guess if you wanted, you could even have used an intentionally annoying voice and then given us some tips about voice coaching.

Hahaha. That's a new one! It fits the video quite well, though I don't think I can make a funny-annoying voice; just annoying.

Here are some ideas that I had thought of but didn't include:

-Dead Phrases (y'know, um, like, etc. I thought of this because the very first time unscripted, I must have said y'know a hundred times)

-Getting Off Track / Including Irrelevant Tidbits
(okay, I lied, I thought of that one just now, and I kind of wish I used it)

-Strange Disorienting Video Effects (lacked a proper editor)

And some others that have drifted out of my mind. In fact, listing these made me realize that this video is poking fun at a lot of my own qualities more than anything...

Gratuitous use of "transitions" would have been hilarious.

Brilliant idea. It's a shame I have a total lack of video editing software. I felt so limited in that sense. Also, the irony behind using special effects and digital editing software to make a video appear worse just hit me.

I sure hope that wasn't sarcasm, Koyâh, or else you completely missed the point of the video.

The vote is for the appealingly self-referential idea. Good taskin'.
