SF0 Mentor: A Noob No More by Torsten the dissenter, lara black, Fonne Tayne
December 5th, 2007 1:16 AM
Yeah we've already posted the task two days ago and gained a Fleur de Lis but this began for me as the first action I ever took with SF0, moments after uploading my player foto, I read some of the few tasks I was qualified for at level 1 and picked "a noob no more..." I asked the gentleman for all seasons, zemaluco for advice and direction in this new sea of possibilities.
Ultimately it lead to a high score, one very destroyed digital camera and one of the most bitchin beautiful light installations this side of anywhere.
Here's the chain:
*I would recommend reading the whole thing only to those who are torn between my prose and daytime T.V. *
---- Torsten on Oct 19 10:58 pm----
so then I call on Obee wan for assistance from the beyond...
INSTRUCTIONS: This task cannot be completed by players above level 2.
Choose a player level 5 or higher whose completions you admire. Message them introducing yourself, and request that they serve as your SF0 Mentor for the completion of one task that can be done at your level. Work in consultation/collaboration with them in the completing of the task, follow their advice. Go big.
2 to 4 players
Got any suggestions?

square park
See you there?

i'd be happy to work on a task with you. you're in oakland, right?
lara suggested something about candles on lake merritt.... i believe that is a form of lux aeterna which could be a lot of fun. the task isn't virgin, but it still has a lot of room to go forward.
also, let me know if you two have artistic skills: primarily involving x-acto knives + cardboard, spraypaint + cement, color mixing, and other things.
finally, sorry to not respond quickly to your mention about sunday... it's always a working day for me and i wasn't able to make it happen into north beach. what was that about henchmen?

my dear fellows,
yes i was thinking of the lake candles for the lux-aeterna task. i realize candles have been done, but i think it could be taken much much further! 77 religious candles is nothing compared to the hundreds of tea-lights i've been stockpiling in my studio. i'm nervous about the lake wind, but i'm feeling optimistic and ambitious. i am dreaming of gondolas. i am pondering plexi. i am no longer eligible to collect points on the mentoring task, but i'm still down to collaborate with the two of you either way.
zm, my skills with an xacto are legendary, and my knowledge of adhesives and color theory are formidable. i am up for whatever stenciling/adhering/carpentry endeavors you have in mind. and no response for sunday was no big deal. i was laid up for most of the day with an insane stomach ache that was the combined result of a) a lot of gin and b) a gigantic creme puff i foolishly ate the night before.
torsten, nice to meet you! oakland is clearly slated for an sfzero renaissance :)

Glorious Humans:
While I did miss the gayest of underwear events I am still ready for some sweet candle action. I did a little experiment tonight in the bay and realized we'll need some paper bags to keep the candles from blowing out and we need a windless evening. My big question is what do we float them with? I think flat cutouts of cardboard would be pretty easy and work for big numbers but the bigger question is do we clean up the left overs from the downwind shore in the morning or do we go with something kinda biodegradable and leave it for the birdies?
Any feelings or other methods?
Yours in skate spirit

i have more tea lights! whoo hoo!!
also yes i am rather short on gay underwear but plan to skate sans inhibition.
Little did we know of the coming revolution and the post U of A symbolism we would embody, but now the day of wreck-oning has come and gone, lights were lit, mini viking funerals were honored and birdies were amused.
Don't waste more time with my proof of the actual task, better take in the official and complete write up for all the glory.
