INSTRUCTIONS: Photograph a most normal, pedestrian view of the world around you. Crop the photo down to a distinct and beautiful vision. Show us the difference.

I chose to shoot in the arcades of the stanford quad. These walk ways serve as the arteries of the university making it literally a very pedestrian view. However, during the day they have way less character than when they are illuminated by the pools of light at night.

After staring at the original for a while, i began to notice the subtle visual rhythm throughout the shot. In 3 of my 4 crops i attempted to emphasize and isolate this rhythm.
In the third one, i realized it was not necessary to maintain normal proportions for the shot and thus chose a tiny slice of the image, which when rotated creates an entirely new architectural structure.
Enjoy,
