Donation by Other Means by The Duchess

February 29th, 2008 11:36 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Get people to donate a face (in the form of a photograph or otherwise) to SFZero. We will use these resources to fuel our war machine and supply resources to those most in need.

I knew I'd be going to critical mass tonight, so I was hoping I would be able to accomplish this task at the same time. Today was both the last Friday of the month and Leap Day. It seemed appropriate to do something like critical mass and an sf0 task. I haven't gone to mass in a while due to rain, laziness, and random drinking binges. I figured since there would be lots of people and they tend to be friendly this would be a good chance for this particular task. I was afraid however that some people would be suspicious of my motives, so I expected to either explain myself frequently or get denied. In the end only one middle-aged tourist and a group of 4 mass riders denied me. But after a while I stopped telling people what I was going to use the picture for; I just asked if I could have it.

I really wanted to get a picture of one of the motorcycle cops who always accompany us but no luck. They are surprisingly unfriendly. I did of course get a picture of Frank Chau, the 12 Galaxies guy. No San Francisco event is complete without him.

Frank Chu's not crazy--you should see the top secret file on xitrorenial monoxides populous atrostrenial.

Also, well done capturing the dual bug/facial antennae combined with the tilde for an eyebrow. This will no doubt be excellent fuel.

I always love running into CritMass, and Friday was no exception. I had gotten my first paycheck, took myself out to John's Grill for a celebration dinner, and on my way out, there y'all were, riding down Powell Street toward Market. I hung around at the foot of Powell for a bit, just to see if I'd run into anyone, but alas, did not. Unfortunately you and I have yet to meet, Duchess, or we might have recognized one another. Alas, anon.
