Well apparently I have too much time on my hands today. The trebuchet, fired the deadly pushpins about 4 inches away from the device its self, so was not as successful as hoped. I did not use any glue for this project, and the whole thing is rather wobbly, but I am quite proud of it.
Addendum: Replaced the bucket with a different configuration, one that is directly attached to the top of the pencil. now it fires for a good 3-4 FEET!!

The best part was using the battery as ballast. But the push pin bucket was flawed.

ps. Next time you find yourself building an office supply siege machine, it might be worth trying to cut down the side walls of your bucket by a large factor.
