Medium Sized blue disco ball. The preciousness of this object came to me in a dream. Below is what I remembered of the dream and below that is where I decided to do with the disco ball.


Dreamt that I was on Golden Gate beach with ____
I saw a magpie flying, it appeared to be carrying some thing
As it got closer, I saw that it was my blue disco ball that I left in Seattle
It dropped the ball for me
I turned to my companion and had an amazing conversation
I felt lighter


I told my friend Jamie to bring the disco ball with her to the house in Seattle I was staying at. My plan was to leave the disco ball somewhere, attaching notes to it saying farewell to some of the things that happened to me in 2007 that I would rather move on from. I asked the group of friends that I was hanging out with, whether they were up for contributing their own leavings to the ball. Being of good quality friends, they were totally up for it.

The disco ball has had a significance to me ever since 2003. I can't remember how my obsession started, but around the same time that "Shiny Disco Balls" song came out. At my BFA show I bought a revolving disco ball and put it in my space even though it had nothing to do with my thesis. I also tried to do and etching of one, but it didn't quite work out.

My writings were to do with a break up and my leaving Seattle to move to San Francisco. What my friends wrote I am not quite sure of, but have a fairly good idea. I am so glad that they added to this task.
