Find A Hole And Fill It by Anomaly

INSTRUCTIONS: Find a place where reality is weak.

Repair the weakness.

So, this started as less of a task and more of a random hiking adventure. As with most of my favorite things in life, this was found along the way.

Hiking is usually a good idea, so a few friends and I decided to do just that. To the top of Thunder Head, a large mountain that overlooks Silver Lake in Northern California. main_20090711-l1000481970.jpg

There were flowers

and big metal avalanche control structures

and lots of pretty scenery. All in all, it was a nice day.

Then we found a random flag, jammed into a rock, upside down.... This is where the reality weakness comes in.

It just looked strange. In the middle of nowhere, a good way away from the trail, was this flag. On the ground, upside down, tossed aside like a pile of trash... Who would put it there? Why put it there? I have my theories, main_pattersonbigfoo81971.jpg but that's really not important. The important thing is that we fix it. We owed it to America! and we really had nothing better to do.

So we journeyed on, now with our newly rescued flag.

We ventured miles.

Crossed vast snow fields.
20090711-l1000381969.jpg

Braved rugged terrain.

Until finally we reached the top.

We then set to work, installing the flag on the top of the mountain.

Right where it belongs.

Way to save 'Merica from the threat of Big Foot and his anti-flag shenanigans.

This would be an excellent completion of The Highest Point...but I have to admit, for this 125-point task my expectations are a bit higher. Though this is a strange occurrence and a good adventure, I'm not convinced you're really found or repaired a weakness in reality. Still, sounds like it was a good day!

Yeah. This is why the big tasks require you to earn them.

To be honest I didn't even look at the level, it just made the most sense to me at the time. Maybe it was a had to be there moment. The random upside down flag in the middle of a mountain, was about as normal a penguin stealing my pocket change (again). It seemed very hole in a normal sense of reality to me. Looking back, the Highest Point probably makes more sense, but I'm hoping to do that one a little bit better. Hurray for backward thinking! :D
