Death Kava by The Beekeeper

I'd rather call this one Death Casava instead.
Now that the sweet taste of cheese burgers and carne asada super burritos has vanished from my mouth, I think it is high time I talk about the agony of Ghanaian cuisine. I am currently a Peace Corps Volunteer serving in Ghana so to complete this task I need simply document a single day of the terrifying meals I eat everyday. The bane of my epicurean existence is a food item called fufu.
Fufu is an annihilated starchy compound served with either scalding hot soup or stew and, of course, painfully eaten with your hands. Its all rather unpleasant and generally the end of my meal is indicated by an exhaustion to further suppress my gag reflex. As, of course, fufu is to be swallowed immediately and not chewed. Generally the stuff doesn't terrify me but it is needless to say unpleasant.
This particular bowl of fufu was served with extremely strange meat, which is where the fright comes in. One rat and one lizard which were caught by a friend earlier in the day supplied the protein for this starchy conoction. The cooked versions are sitting atop the fufu island where their raw forms are pictured above. I'd say that's frightening enough.

I was kind of waiting for someone to complete this task by saying "I do this every day." Congratulations! :)
