Many instances of travel to new, foreign locales ( regardless of the amount of people around ) oftentimes I find myself isolated by shyness, and searching for any familiar element to the landscape.



In my recent sojourn to the wonderful Hawaiian island of Maui, a great way to dig deeper into the natural element of the land is to drive the entire length of the Hana Highway, a windy stretch of road that encompasses half of the island and skirts both the windward rainforest & leeward desert found around the Haleakala Volcano.



Lo and behold, what luck! I managed to spot a good friend of mine on the Hana Highway itself ...

... but as my luck would have it, these sightings didn't serve to comfort - only to provoke some serious jealousy!
