Stage Your Own Death (And Reincarnation?) by avidd opolis

June 5th, 2006 9:56 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Stage the death of "yourself" on a social networking site such as MySpace, Friendster, FaceBook, Consumating, or (!!!) SF0. You can execute this however you like, but some things you might include in the performance could be: your last will and testament, a virtual "suicide" note/investigation into the circumstances surrounding "your" death, elegies, eulogies... Possibly "you" can then be resurrected as a zombie or reincarnated as a new lifeform?!

Bonus points if "you" are now effectively dead for the vast majority of "your" former "friends".

As always, submit evidence.

I wrote the following to my myspace blog (i've had the account for two months and it links to several people i know in real life). I then used a fake account i've been cultivating to leave the first memorial on the blog. Then that fake account sent a message to all my real profile's friends asking them to leave a memorial. I've submitted the profile to http://mydeathspace.com along with a link to a real obit of some random person. I'll post comments and progress as it develops, especially if mydeathspace accepts my profile.

Hello myspace friend. We regret to inform you that Avidd is dead. The cirumstances are currently being investigated. He left nothing to anybody. He will be sorely missed by his 10 myspace friends. He had an intriguing list of favorite books and movies, and his profile was both witty and sincere. Feel free to comment here as a tribute to Avidd's tragically short time with us.
" In me thou see'st the glowing of such fire
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the death-bed whereon it must expire
Consumed with that which it was nourish'd by.
This thou perceivest, which makes thy love more strong,
To love that well which thou must leave ere long."
