The Wily Old Farmer by Juliette

INSTRUCTIONS: Predict the weather each tomorrow for a week using "natural" indicators. Do not cheat and check false "science" meteorology on TV and internet! See if your predictions come true.

Bonus points will be awarded for predicting earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. All completions from Southern California will be disapproved.

This covers from 6/24/08 to 7/1/08. I forgot all about it being in my notebook! Finally posting.

Tuesday: It's warmish, I guess. Clear skies. And I recall that yesterday was foggy, so assuming we're having a typical 'three-day cycle' as seems to happen, I'd say it's gonna be nice tomorrow, too. Cloudy in the morning, but it'll burn off by 2 pm and be maybe 75 to 80 degrees.
Wednesday: Cloudy in the morning, lovely and sunny in the afternoon, as predicted! Woohoo. It's a little warm for comfort, though, not even a breeze to stir things up. Tomorrow... hazy, no fog, still uncomfortably hot.
Thursday: Not that hazy, but it's definitely HOT. I'm dying to look at a thermometer and see just how HOT it is, but I feel like that might be cheating. Damn. Um... tomorrow. We're at the end of our three-day time limit, but I'm doubting that things will go as usual. Prediction? Hotter still. Still no clouds or fog. Wish there would be some.
Friday: Today as I waited at the bus stop, I noticed that the pine-cones on the trees above me were cracking open from the heat. Tomorrow it will be hot. It will probably never stop being hot OH MY GOD.

(At this point, one must note that I am used to temperatures in the 55-70 range, and as I looked it up once the week was over, we got 95 at the hottest point on Friday, and Saturday... well. It is simply unmentionable.)

Saturday: Hello there Satan, do you think you might want to turn the heat down a bit? I'm just a little bit warm. JUST A LITTLE BIT. Prediction? WHAT DO YOU THINK.
Sunday: Cooler! I think we might be down to non-cooking temperatures! Still warm, but it is pleasant. Yeeeeessssss. A bit of a sea breeze in the afternoon, awesome. Tomorrow, the fog will finally be back.
Monday: Fog! Fog fog fog. *happy dance* And mañana there will be more fog!
Tuesday: Fog once more. Finally back to a happy 57 degrees in San Francisco. Well, that's a guess, but it's probably within two degrees. I think this is my last day, right? No prediction needed. :D:D

I didn't mind not looking at the weather or any sort of non-natural source, I just minded the weather we were having. It really was uncomfortable. I spent most of those days holed up in my room with very few clothes and the fan on.

what was the natural indicator used for these predictions, by the way?

Just... how things looked... and how I felt in my bones! Also, I knew from past experience that we usually have a cycle where we get three nice days followed by a few of fog. But on the third day of HOT, there wasn't any fog looming over the ocean and no dip in temperature, so I figured we'd get a few more HOT days. And on the fifth day (Sunday) I did mention that it was a lower temperature and that we had a sea breeze, which lead me to the conclusion that the fog would be back. Hoorah!
