Make something I don't need? Story of my _life_!
So I bought a heap of peppermint swirl cotton yarn while I was in TX in January. No idea what I was going to do with it, I just really liked the colors. In the past, I have always used this particular cotton yarn for dishtowels and dishcloths, and in fact i have plenty of them. So I made one additional dishcloth out of some of the yarn, and then realized that I really had more than enough dishcloths.

The thing is, I still had all this yarn, and I have this marvelous book of crochet pattern squares.
They're intended for an afghan. I don't _really_ need an afghan, and I don't want an afghan of peppermint swirl cotton yarn; it would be really heavy and the patterns wouldn't show up very well.
But it's fun to try out some of the squares; they're a fast way to see how a stitch pattern works, and they don't use up much yarn. Guess what they're perfect for making, that I don't need any more of? That's right, dishcloths. *sigh*

So here's a dishcloth, simple half-double crochet I think, in the peppermint swirl yarn. Nice! I even did a loop at the corner.

Here's the beginning of a second square. This one has little bobble stitches every so often, so it's sorta lumpy, but in a good way. Making the little lumps is really confusing until you get used to it.

Two dishcloths made! Now what on earth to do with them? Aha! Then I remembered that I still have to do this internet gift exchange with some friends, and that one of them was Pomaceae, and that I was about to see her on the weekend. Voila!

Pomaceae loves handmade stuff, and she loves candy, and she thought they were awesome! And then we all sat around knitting and crocheting more stuff we didn't need! Everybody won.
