Bibliophile by Crazy Child, Rather Dashing

INSTRUCTIONS: Check out "suspicious" library books in an attempt to be flagged by the the FBI. List specific books.

WARNING: This text contains dangerous texts - upon which a reader is obligated to express complete disapproval, lest they become an accomplice in the eyes of the FBI.
Keywords: anti-americanism; anthrax; arson; bombs; explode; terrorism; american landmarks about to get blown up; Pesticides; pentagon; torture; Stalin (This is for the online surveillance of the FBI to better find us)

After finding this task, Crazy Child and I knew just what to do.

We donned our best suspicious-looking gear (In my case, my brown fedora and in her case, a magenta trenchcoat) and we promptly headed out to the campus library at UNC Charlotte to do our best to raise a red flag under the surveillance (or sousveillance, for that matter) of the FBI.

We could only check out 15 books at once, unfortunately - though we found 17 seperate documents which would be extremely useful to us in inflicting our Canadian reign of terror upon the unsuspecting American populace.

The list is as follows:

Terrorist organizations in the United States : an analysis of issues, organizations, tactics, and re
1000420417 DUE 05-12-08 HV6432

Some of our favourites were titles such as "Arson!", "Grand Theft Pentagon", and, of course, "Cause for Alarm" which we feel sufficiently should have notified any unsure FBI Agents that we are, indeed, cause for alarm.

Our feelings were that any good terrorist should not be entirely morally inept; They should definitely know how to write a good, solid apology poem. Therefore, "This is just to say : poems of apology and forgiveness" was essential reading material.

So we gathered all these books, which added up to quite a weight as we moved through 8 floors of books, and got laughed at in the elevators - and rightly so - for being nerds. We used self-check out, as you can see from the pictures below, to avoid having security called on us. What was more fun, however, was getting all our pictures and walking around with large stacks of books a bit, and then finally returning the books.

The librarian's eyes widened in suprise as we approached the circulation desk, quickly enquiring if she could be of service - followed by a further inquiry as to why we 'carried half the library in our arms'. What further amused us, however, is her calling Crazy Child and I 'partners in crime' as we asked her if we could return the books. I believe it was something along the lines of "Well, at least you have your partner in crime to help you carry the load!" (directed at me? maybe?).

She definitely gave us interesting looks as she scanned each book in turn and put them back on the 'to be reshelved' shelf, though.

We left the library with a sense of mysterious satisfaction and quite the receipt as a souvenir. =D

Good. Using the self-check out system will arouse further suspicion.

You followed the task to the letter, but I would've liked it a lot more if you tried to check all these out in person. :: grins ::
It definitely was good, thought-out tasking, though.

It is funny, but this praxis reminds me a whole lot of Sorted Books! These titles are so evocative you could really make something good!

Wow.... some one needs to make a part two of that task, JTony. That might make it to my retired-tasks-to-do-anyway list.

Edit: "Create a conversation using only book titles."

Is there a way to find out if you've actually been flagged? Probably not, huh...

That's too bad.

Great book choices though!

or is there..?

isnt there some kind of enormously rediculous list of people the FBI are watching? seems everyone knows the number, so it has to be accessible.... which doesnt make sense if youre trying to SPY on someone.. good goin there USA.. :)

CM, I've always loved how you sound a little like WC Williams at times.

Amazing job! I especially liked the suspicious looking fashion choices. "Fire behavior of upholstered furniture and mattresses" is the title that, for some strange reason, sent me on a jag of uncontrolled evil laughter in my cube at work. Your suspicious behavior has, in turn, created suspicious behavior on my part - and in the middle of a work day no less. Big Ups!
