The Labeling Compulsion by Duck Monster
November 7th, 2007 7:48 PM
I've been looking forward to this task since the day I joined! (Which, yeah, was three or four days ago, but still. I hurried to level up, just so I could take this on. And although I'm marking it complete, I think I'm going to update this one a few times. I liked it so much!)
I began by compulsively labeling everything in my office, because that seemed a lot more fun (read: public) than doing this to my house. Which isn't to say I won't take on my house next. I probably will. I can't begin to describe the joy I got from labelling a magnet "magnet," a pen "pen," etc. The wordier labels were even more fun! And comforting. Very, very comforting.
At any rate, I started this task yesterday, at 5 or 6pm, and spent about an hour on it before my ride came to get me. I went home with the task incomplete and slept poorly, thinking of all the things I still wanted to label and how I would take the photos to best show off my labelling. This morning, I came back in to work, and I think I worked for maybe half an hour* before I couldn't take it any longer and had to "complete" this task. (I think I forgot something--I'm not saying what--and I want to label that and then take one more picture, to give you a better view of the place. It won't feel finished if I don't.)
Anyway, two of my coworkers have already asked about it, one with significant trepidation. That was enjoyable. Which reminds me: if there's anything that seems a bit ... untoward... in this photo series, you saw nothing. (Don't tell my corporate overlords. I'm more honest with you than I am with them.)
Attached are the images of my office. It's becoming really a splendid place The first picture will give you an idea of where to look for labels in the subsequent pictures. (Yes, I compulsively labeled, and then I compulsively circled the labels. There's nothing wrong with that.)
*Wasn't there some task about documenting oneself not working? Maybe I should have multi-tasked on this one.

This is awesome. You should maybe have taken closer-up pictures so people could appreciate the awesomeness even more.
I might do this.

What a fantastic video!
I love labels so much. :)
1. You labeled the fruit stickers.
2. You had fruit stickers in a particular place in the first place.
You rule.
