Mihi by Ellie Undergound

INSTRUCTIONS: In Maori culture, when you formally introduce yourself in a meeting house it is called a "Mihi". You tell people your canoe, tribe, sub-tribe and family, but you ALSO identify specific geological features to which you "belong". For example, "your" lake, mountain, river, forest etc.

Chose at least three geographical features that you consider "yours". Document them.

Mine. All mine! Muahaha!

Okay, three geographical features- that I belong to? Or that belong to me? Hmm... I'll pick the first one, it's more fun.

The first place I belong to is my room, and within that, specifically, my bed. It has bright orange cotton sheets on it that don't get washed very often because I get depressed seeing my bed without them. It also has a fluffy white throw blanket that probably doesn't belong on an actual bed, and currently, a large and poofy dark pink-white polka-dotted comforter. As for why I belong there? Let me think... It's fluffy. I belong to things which are fluffy.

The second place I belong to is the school park by my house. It is very green and lots of kids live- I mean- hang out there. Little kids, 'cause it's an elementary school. I love it muchly...

And the third place I belong to is on a very specific rock at a very specific campground from which I can see a mountain that looks like the top of it was cut off. Oh, yeah, and while I belong to that rock, the mountain I can see from it is MINE and someday I will have a little baby Simba and tell him that everything he can see from that rock is his. I'm going to build my palace on top of the flat-topped mountain when I become king of the world. Which will never happen because I am, in fact, a girl.

Why shouldn't a girl build a palace on a flat-topped mountain, once she becomes king of the world?
