Horror Picture Show by Charlie Fish

INSTRUCTIONS: Scare.

In 30 images or less (30 seconds if in film form).

Submit this task on or before October 31st to enter the Dispatch Challenge. The task with the highest number of votes one week later will be declared the winner and honored appropriately.

The Story:

As some of you will know, there were a string of unsolved murders that happened in Suffolk last year. Some say the murders were inspired by Jack the Ripper himself, for they followed a similar pattern. Five women, all outdoors, each more terrible and grisly than the last.

A friend of mine is part of the police force that are investigating this case. They get prank calls and fake tip-offs all the time, but they received one video that they are taking more seriously. It seems to be a confession from the killer himself.

It's very poor quality, the image is so dark that you can't even see the killer's face. They are trying all kinds of image enhancement techniques on it, but to no avail. But the voice is clear enough. And a chilling voice it is, too...

The video is being released in limited circles to see if the killer's voice can be identified. The clip that's been released is one minute and thirty seconds long, but some of it's quite ugly for sensitive ears, so I've made an abridged version (30 seconds) for those of you that would rather not hear it all.

See the video below, if you dare.

The story above is completely fictional. I just thought I should point that out!

Nice.

Very interesting.

(At least, it proved to be interesting, after I stopped troubleshooting my video player's codec selection and watched it to the end.)

Interesting is such a boring word!

"Interesting" eh? That sounds pretty damning to me...

No effulgent praise for my voice acting?

No bashful admission that you jumped with fright?

No wide-eyed wonder at the fictive illusion?

Just interesting... ok...

Good voice acting, I didn't say before because I assumed it wasn't you. I've never been to Ipswich, is that what they sound like there?

I don't know how they sound in Ipswich.

No, I was going for a Jack-the-Ripper-esque cockney gravel. I cycled lots beforehand so I had a specially phlegmy voice.

They sound like tarts in Ipswich.

Well, it creeped me allright! "Horrible yet compelling" and the way the guy snorts at the very beggining. I shouldn´t have pressed the little triangle.
