Bathe Electonics by Charlie Fish

October 1st, 2007 3:11 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Find a dirty electronic device. Issue it one super happy fun time bath.

Don't try this at home, kids.

My old stereo was looking a bit scuffed and dusty, so I decided to give it a bath. My beautiful assistant documented the occasion.

Click "+ larger" and scroll through the pics to see (you nasty voyeur, you).

As you can see, the stereo works perfectly well - it's just a bit dirty. (Feel free to skip through the inane radio chatter!)

Mr. Stereo hates bath time. He's shy is all.

I must admit I was a bit paranoid about mixing electronics and bathwater. Capacitors can retain electrical charge even when the thing's off, can't they? PLEASE NOTE - THE STEREO WAS UNPLUGGED. PUTTING LIVE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT ANYWHERE NEAR A BATH IS STUPID.

Come to think of it, putting UNplugged electronic equipment in a bath is pretty stupid too.

First, shampoo the scalp.

CIMG4248.JPG

Give that dirty optical laser a good scrub.

Avert your eyes! Some shampoo for the "downstairs area".

Mr. Stereo likes to play with Dory fish.

All the Nemo toys!

CIMG4261.JPG

CIMG4261.JPG

Mr. Stereo felt rather embarrassed about being so exposed, but one must be thorough.

CIMG4266.JPG

CIMG4266.JPG

Oop... a bit of excess water in the system there...

CIMG4268.JPG

I like Nemo.

Bathtime is over! Here's me helping Mr. Stereo get dry.

This is a video of me towelling off Mr. Stereo. As you can hear, he's not particularly happy about it.

And to finish off, some deodorant to make sure Mr. Stereo is nice and fresh.

I love that you lit candles for his bath time, that must have been so relaxing for him.

Did it work when you were done?

That's kind of the kicker here for me, and isn't clear from the praxis, is "did it work when you were done?"

I've had some bad experiences with liquids and electronics that, in the end after lots of patience, turned out much better than expected. How did yours turn out?

JTony: I never tested it, I'm afraid. Instead I killed it, for a higher cause.

I can't tell you any more, but keep your eye on the praxis towards the end of this month and you might spot Mr. Stereo's final moments on this green earth...

CRAZY
