For my graph of desire, I wanted to stretch the task a little further...
So here's what I did.
I modified a dart board to fit my desires.
It's color coded.
blue=power
red=adventure
yellow=knowledge
orange=creativity, inspiration
grey=sex, drugs, and rock n' roll
green=wealth
violet=relationships
and
bulls-eye=revenge praxis on Sam I Are
The concept of this was that now that I have this board of desires, I would throw darts at them. Throwing the darts and trying to hit certain targets mimics or represents trying to achieve that desire as well as how much I want it. The categories were strategically arranged. If you take the numbers from each category and add them together you see how much I desire that category.
power=23
adventure=23
knowledge=26
creativity, inspiration=33
sex, drugs, and rock n' roll=29
wealth=42
relationships=34
revenge praxis=25
Keep in mind that I modified the dart board so it does not have doubles or triples. The highest hit on the board is the bulls-eye. I limited myself to 6 darts, therefore forcing myself to prioritize which I desired most. I could choose to try and hit the top points from 6 different categories or, if I desired it greatly, I could choose to hit more than one from a category, therefore adding on more points for how greatly I desire it. I could also try and hit the same target every time. It all depends on how I feel within that 16 seconds in which I am throwing the darts.
Here is the tally from the 1st toss.
power=3
adventure=4
knowledge=5
creativity, inspiration=11
sex, drugs, and rock n' roll=6
wealth=0
relationships=0
revenge praxis=25 bulls-eye oh yeah!
For the second toss, I decided to make it even more interesting. I threw the darts blindfolded, thus disabling me to desire anything. Because I cannot desire anything, this round represents where I am right now in my life in these categories.
At first, not all of the darts made it onto the dart board. I thought this was invalid and the toss should be redone. On the second try however, all of the darts made it onto the board.
Here are the results.
power=3
adventure=0
knowledge=19
creativity, inspiration=0
sex, drugs, and rock n' roll=0
wealth=35
relationships=0
revenge praxis=0
If you analyze this, you will find it to be fairly accurate. I have some power, yes, but who doesn't have control over something? I haven't been on any adventures lately, but I need to soon. Knowledge, yes, that's very accurate because I am studying at college at the moment. Creativity, inspiration, however, is not so accurate. I am an art student so I always have some running through me. Plus, I came up with this brilliant graph of desire didn't I? Sex, drugs, and rock n' roll, sorry none lately. Wealth, well, I have enough to survive and then some. Relationships; I would say this is accurate because I have not made any new friends in while. And finally, revenge praxis. Accurate. Why, because I haven't done it yet. So watch your back, Sam I Are.
