While I agree with your sentiment, your tone is ungamely. Encourage and inspire; please don't start with "lame".
Love,
Inky
See, I don't get this language thing. We're too nice here. If something's lame, we should definitely say it is. Hell, if people had said such things when my tasks were generally bad in the past, or are bad in the present, I'll would get better by simply knowing what's unsatisfactory in categories of awesome and aestethetics.
And, Inky, you're one to talk.
And, Bryce, you're one to talk.
You're lame. You are anti-social and discouraging to players, new and old. You're worse than players who ghost about and don't play; you're the antithesis of a community member.
You are unsatisfactory in categories of awesome and "aestethetics". Please get better.
Alrighty comrade of condescension, I hear your grievances. You've said them to me a great many times. They're quite valid grievances. I just don't see them as being quite as relevant as say, making tasks better. But, first of all, try not to use the language that you already have condemned to describe someone. That's just hypocritical. And second of all, l actually encouraged Ed after I said that his task was lame, I wanted to hear more! I wanted to be able to vote for something, and I informed him of that! One word used to describe the current state of affairs, with hopes for something better to arrive strikes me as, well, useful.
This task right here sounds glorious and unusual, and I really want to see more. Right now, it is lame, but it has the possibility to grow.
Ed, welcome to the game. I look forward to this task.
Sad to see two of my favorite people fighting.
But at least it's given me a good idea :D
It's given me an idea that involves Ty, Bryce, and Glove Slap. Just saying.
I'm knee deep in plotting a glove slap as is.
Here's the thing, Bryce. The way you tell off new players doesn't encourage them to do better--it encourages them to leave the game. Your comment on Reed's Street Junk Sculpture, for example, left more than a little bit of a sick taste in my mouth. The game is about collaboration, art, community, inspiration, exploration. It gets people moving and gets them doing interesting things.
As Reed said, tasking isn't about earning your approval.
You were the person who got me into SFØ in the first place, Bryce. So start acting like it again. I'm disappointed.

See, Sunshine, this is a bit of a problem. Reed does say that tasking isn't about earning my approval, but he's posting his task on a site that consists of posts that exist for votes.
See what I mean? He is tasking to gain approval. Not necessarily mine, but mine is just as valuable as anyone else's.
If people want to task, and not post it, then it's tasking for tasking's sake, but the act of posting it means that you're looking for approval.
And You're right. The game is about collaboration, art, community, inspiration and exploration, but if the tasks are poor collaborations, are ugly, don't inspire, and don't explore (community is another matter entirely) then they aren't worth completing. Reed's didn't inspire me, was ugly, and didn't really explore anything interesting, , therefore I described my lack of enthusiasm. That is just as legitimate a comment as lauding it with praise, and if the praise is false, describing its deficient nature is a much more legitimate comment.
Now let's get off Ed's task and fight somewhere else.
I feel that Bryce might be a more appropriate glove slap then your current rival, just saying
Edward. We, the players of SFØ like to be entertained when we read praxis. It is your job then to not only DO the tasks as they are written (or find a clever loophole to do them in a unique and inspiring way), but also to entertain us with the writing of your praxis. We want to feel what you felt when you did the task when we read your praxis. And the more creative you are in expressing yourself, the more we will enjoy reading it and rewarding you for your efforts.
We think you may have potential, or we wouldn't bother commenting at all, but try to surprise us (maybe by surprising yourself) and try to make your praxis entertaining for us. After all we came here to read what you wrote and to see what you did. The least you can do is to make us feel our time was well spent.
Try looking around the site at some tasks that got a lot of votes, and see how those players presented their praxis to us. I'm not saying you should copy another player's style, but rather to see what works.
Happy tasking.
- Lincoln
agreed entirely.
Also, welcome here and happy tasking :D
Thank you for showing us how it's done, Lincoln. Ever classy. : ]

Bryce, I think this is what Ben, Ty Odin, myself, and others mean when we criticize how you're putting people down. Lincoln was supportive, encouraging, and most importantly, said in clear and positive terms what he thought should be improved. He didn't proclaim something lame or boring, he offered, to use a term, constructive criticism. The 'constructive' part of that term is much more important than the 'criticism' part, is the thing.
Lame. Run through it yourself and document, or elaborate further, and I might vote. This sounds interesting. A pity to waste it.
