The Low Score Task by Adam

INSTRUCTIONS: Take a picture of the Sutro Tower from your neck of the woods. Bonus points for inviting your neighbors along for a photo shoot. Bonus points for skilled/artsy/lucky photography.

One of the major disadvantages of playing SF0 for me is being on the other side of the globe from San Francisco. This is one of the tasks which is obviously going to be quite difficult to complete. However it does say "take a photo [...] from your neck of the woods". Well here we go then.

Using Google Earth I managed to work out that the Sutro Tower was located 5,361 miles away. It is 23:44 here in the UK but over at where Im looking, to Mount Sutro it is 14:44. Hmm where was I at 14:44? I was in a politics class at college.

I also worked out that; if you follow a direct line around the globe from my house to the tower it goes like this:

San Fransisco Bay
Richmond, CA
Sacramento, CA
NW Nevada
SE Oregon
C Idaho
NW Montana
SE Alberta
C Saskwatchen
NW Manitoba
Nunavut
Hudson Bay
Coats Island
Dorset Island
Baffin Island
Greeland
Baleshare
Falkirk
Stockton-On-Tees
Kingston-Upon-Hull
North Sea
The Wash
Sheringham
Roughton
North Walsham
Burgh St Margaret
Vauxhall
Gt. Yarmouth

As you can see it is quite a distance and actually goes into the Arctic Circle, you can also see that it goes through only four nations; USA, Canada, Denmark and the UK.

Using this I managed to work out that I needed to turn to the NNW to be able to see the Sutro Tower. Of course if the earth was flat, and the tower was 1,204,399ft high and there was nothing in the way I would be able to see it. Unfortunutly I could only see a map of Norfolk and a poster from The Guardian :(

Seems to pass through the air- or sea-space of Iceland, this line of yours.

With the correct angle downward, you might be able to approximate this trajectory better.

I like it

It's not your fault you don't live in the best city in the world. You did the best you could given the circumstances.

Would've been even funnier if you'd invited your neighbors over for the photo shoot!

Well I would have invitied my neighbours round if it wasnt that on one side they were Portugeuse and on the other side they are snobs.

"Stairs lead up to the 666-foot summit of Larsen's Peak, which offers one of the best hilltop views of the city." I think the hight of the peak is evidence enough of the devils work in hill creation

as I always point out, the problem with you up with hills folks is that you want to do away with gravity. San Francisco doesn't need any more damn hills! We've got tons and tons of them.

Hills mean more effort to walk up them.

More flatland!

Well, in the end, us hill dwellers will inevitably survive once the ice caps melt. Represent the Islands of what were once the Berkeley hills!

Hmmm... do I see three little radio tower spikes poking out of the water in the distance? And there's no flag.... Row-boat + Sutro tower= completion of the only level 8 task. UP WITH HILLS!! IN WITH GLOBAL WARMING!!

Boo!

Hills fail!

If there were no hills, all water would spread nice and evenly.

This is the best completion I think you could have done without actually going there. Have a vote.

Congratulations.

Quite fine methodology! You are an upwardly mobile chap. You will have to be much much craftier now, if you seek to fulfill the utmost promise of all that Drive.
