Once Upon a Time... by Shan

INSTRUCTIONS: Tell or read a story to an animal. Document the animal's reaction to your storytelling skills.

There might have been a better time to read "Kitten's First Full Moon" to my rabbit, as he'd been in his cage all day and seemed at first as though he'd rather have been running around the living room than listening to a story about a different species. But when I got to the first instance of the dramatic leitmotif ("Still, there was the little bowl of milk, just waiting."), he took an experimental bite of the jacket and it apparently tasted good; he listened to the rest of the story, only hopping away three or four times to go investigate what was making that flashing thing happen and once to go nibble on some other book. (Comparative literature?)

I am going to tell you a story and you are going to listen.

...and then...

...and then...

It was too intense! He had to look away!

The kitten got the milk in the end.

The kitten got the milk in the end.

And Zerk got to eat a little more of the book.
