Freeway Excursion by Balaustine Envoy, Entropic Electricity
September 27th, 2008 10:51 PM / Location: 34.072568,-118.1613Using the advanced technology available to me at Entropic's home, namely his glorious MacBook Pro, I showed him some of the tasks I was interested in completing. On a whim, we decided to undertake a Freeway Excursion. We both were feeling adventurous and decided that there was no good reason not to do so. After all, the 710 freeway is only a few minutes' walk from Entropic's command centre.
We made our preparations for the journey ahead of us, and set out on foot.

As we got nearer the freeway, we discussed the important details of our journey. We needed to decide when and where we would get off the freeway, so we chose the closest place we knew: the entrance to the Cal State LA Busway, about sixth tenths of a mile from the freeway onramp.
We reached the offramp. We were getting closer.

As we approached the onramp, we paused so Entropic could tie his shoe. This made me wish I had brought some form of footwear other than flip-flops.

After this pause in our journey, we continued on. We reached the onramp, and I took some photos of the scene while we waited to cross the street.

After we got the 'walk' signal, we crossed the street and began walking. Along the freeway.

Fueled by adrenaline, we kept a steady pace. Well, as steady as is possible when one foot traveler is wearing sandals. Cars passed us by.

Thankfully, none of them bore the black and white insignia of doom and financial penalty.
Entropic and I began to feel a tad paranoid, so we quickened the pace and began to run. I tried to snap a couple photos as we ran through the bramble. You can see how that turned out...

We pushed onward, knowing there was no way of getting off the freeway until we reached our destination...

Or was there? We were both starting to feel tired, and running through bramble in sandals was not comfortable in the least. We began to feel quite paranoid and concerned with how long the journey was taking us. But then, off in the distance, we saw a fence which serves as a border between the bramble and a street.
We both agreed it was wisest to conclude our journey here, rather than continue our risky walk to the busway. I climbed up and over the fence, followed by Entropic.

We felt worn out,

but also quite satisfied.

Gasping for air, we paused to look back at the freeway.

Just then, a woman walked by us on the sidewalk. She looked quite confused by our presence; I wish I had been able to snap a photograph of her.
Still out of breath, we then walked down Hellman and back to Entropic's secret base.
All in all, this was a very satisfying task. Entropic and I decided to complete it on a whim, and it took us about an hour from start to finish.
Yes, we traversed the freeway. And yes, we traversed it on foot.
Onward!

As we began the journey to the gaping maw that existed near us, we considered the potential consequences of our actions.
Up and over

We found this fence, just asking to be hopped. This fence also saved us from walking another two tenths of a mile to the busway.
Looking back, part 2

As we began walking back to Entropic's secret base, we paused to look back at the freeway we had just traversed.

Thanks! :D
I don't know about you, but I'm not digging this voting points thing...
I do believe you're the first to complete this task in the obvious-but-scary way that I imagine we all expected to see. Excellent.
I had been wanting to do this for months before I saw the task, the next step is to ride my bike along the same path.
Thanks all for the votes and comments! This was a very spur-of-the-moment task, but it turned out surprisingly well. :D
for you to finally post this. Will vote, when I get some voting points.
