Journey to the End of the Night: Oakland by Jason 7au, YellowBear, Bex.

June 2nd, 2014 1:53 PM / Location: 37.820115,-122.2472

INSTRUCTIONS: A pursuit across Oakland in 6 parts.

The city spreads out before you. Rushing from point to point, lit by the slow strobe of fluorescent buses and dark streets. Stumbling into situations for a stranger's signature. Fleeing unknown pursuers, breathing hard, admiring the landscape and the multitude of worlds hidden in it.

For one night, drop your relations, your work and leisure activities, and all your usual motives for movement and action, and let yourself be drawn by the attractions of the chase and the encounters you find there.

No bikes, no cars, just feet and public transportation.

Document your experience.

A Tale of Checkpoint 1 (and what happened afterwards)

Bex says: This antique write-up has been sitting here, unwritten, collecting dust for years. Turns out, I accidentally deleted my photos and the cards, but Jason 7au came to the rescue with his documenting. It's time that this one stopped hanging out on my list of tasks I'm working on!

Just as the race was beginning, and before anyone made it to our checkpoint, we met a nice couple at the garden with their son. While their son was playing, they asked us what we were up to and seemed really into it, and the dad said he'd check out the site. Always share SF0 with interested parties! Oh man, Bex, sweet ringtone.

After Checkpoint 1 shut down, Jason went down to Checkpoint 2 to check it out. Some folks showed up as we were taking Myrna's props back to her car after 2 shut down, but we were being nice and hooked them up. And then there was a mishap with the table.

Our task banks like grave yards of adventures and ambitions past. Hopefully, you are getting rid of this one so you may add and task anew.

Indeed, time to move it on through. I have so many almost ready for submission.
Some of them I keep holding onto with the hopes that it will get bigger and shplankier;
some I hold onto because it makes me sad to post and not get the high traffic we had in the old days.

Yeah, but we have a senator working on it and I'm still spreading the word. And you are still submitting tasks :D

I know nether of us will probably ever be as active again, but when I see your name on a task, it still makes me smile. Can't wait to see your others!
