I told a funny story about my first day of work at my last job, as ZooMobile Coordinator at The Oakland Zoo. It was the only day that I had to train with the person who I was replacing, and so it was a bit hectic. I went along to a second grade classroom in Martinez, and even though I had never handled any of the animals before, I had to put a sulfur-crested cockatoo back in her carrier because she wouldn't stop screaming. After a short stand-off in front of the entire class, I got her back into her carrier... but she did bite me. It was the only time she did, though!
People laughed a lot, which was nice. My friends all said it was good (but they have to say that, right?). But last week I got this e-mail from someone I only kind of know:
"I saw you at Porch Light earlier this week. You were great!! Definitely one of the best storytellers of the night. I was impressed... I could NEVER do that."

So I think it went over well!
