Lord, I wish I knew! She was, however, bumming a cigarette from me, so it may have been that her lungs gave out before her leaping and evading skills did.

Definitely. Extra points for leeches. I actually thought the scar was caused by leeches at first, and was terrified far more than I should have been.

I love this! I actually used a knit square for a clue in a treasure hunt one time: To find the next location, they had to unravel it in a certain direction and stop when the yarn ran out. Excellent undoing!
