Urbane Exploration 1 by Theo Playfoot
September 23rd, 2009 5:43 PMI took many pictures, hope you enjoy despite the poor quality and illegibility of some of the documents as my camera has a terrible focusing system.
library exterior

the outside view of the library. I know, looks a bit like a bunker. would be a pretty good one if not for all the glass.
first view

this is the first thing you see when you walk into the basement. the photo class green screen and some of their equipment. nothing terribly exciting huh?
Caution?

I wonder why they put up this tape. its all over several rows of shelves of old readers digests, yankee magazine, etc.
pipes

some of the pipes in the boiler room. only picture that really came out because it was so dark. Very mysterious and creepy place, like most of the basement.
Tuxes

there was an entire rack of tuxes of various sizes and styles. (in fact, i wore one with tails and the appropriate gear to prom including top hat and cane) along with the necessary accessories (cummerbund, shoes, etc.)
First students

This file contains the files of the first students accepted to my school, back in the early 1800s, including the first accepted student's correspondence with the school.
Harpsichords?

There were several of what i believe were harpsichords, all in decent condition. very strange indeed.
archivists office

This is the archivist's office. Ive never seen him/her, done know their name, or what they look like. neither does anyone else ive asked. I think that he/she was swallowed by the basement a long time ago and no-one caught on.
blue prints

I have no clue what they are to, as i had to go before i could study them. (i have marked them in my mind for future study though). I LOVE blueprints and floor plans. especially as there are known to be tunnels on campus.

yeah, people at my school are pretty damn boring. Im hoping that before i leave at the end of this year i can get someone else to take my place as designated explorer of the school.
there probably is indeed another explorer already active (as probability has it) but it's rather in the nature of explorers to be independent, so i wouldn't be surprised if you were merely unaware of each other's presence!
The archivist's office photo is sweet... atmospheric. Nice job. I'd have liked to hear more about interactions with inhabitants, but you can't have everything...
guess what? i get to work in there over the course of the year (yay blueprints access!) and i get to interview people on the history of the school and play it on the radio station i manage (hows that for combining many interests? recording/mixing, odd history, and radio) as for interactions with inhabitants, cant say there weren't many inhabitants to converse with at the time.
the photo of the pipes is sweet.
man, the other people at your school must be really lame if they have no interest in free harpsichords, tuxedos, and access to a green screen... just sayin!
