Something Very Good by Kommando

i had my wintermelon tea in one hand and camera in the other. now all i had to do was wait and watch.

Nothing happened. not yet. the lights cycled and people crossed the street, cars flowed and nothing unusual was happening.

I looked harder, a mobile phone tower perched above the building on the opposite corner bathed me in its invisible radio waves but I wasnt tuned into the Alien cloaking network, i heard nothing.

then, i noticed something. The woman in the red dress. is this real?

Then i thought i saw the wicked witch of the west in her crooked black heels and stripy stockings.

The cyclists paid me no heed as i snapped their faces. their lithe fit bodies mocking my stomach pudge.
i heard the cries of a distant protest. something about teachers aides.

The cyclists seemed to be fleeing the protest. perhaps he was responsible for the terrible wages these educators endured.

a woosh and a slight chirp of tyres as this car stops over the line, a guilty man behind the wheel recognises that if he had run the red light he would have faced off against a firetruck, and lost.

a cheeky cyclist however perches atop his two wheeled transport, waving his buttocks at the sheepish light jumper.

A one legged man rounds the corner and continues on his way past the sandwich joint. perhaps he lost it in a fire.

Zoom goes the nearly silent Prius taxi, its electric motors gliding it around the corner. the bright orange blazing in the cruel brisbane sun.

In a rush a woman runs across the road against the lights, jaywalkers. I got fined for jaywalking once. $40. noone catches this woman however.

The noise of the protest has faded away and this damaged Toyota rounds the corner. its blacked out windows do not show the careless owner.

A large fat man catches my eye as he ambles across the road. His rotund belly shocks me, i could become him if i didnt do some sit ups.
The hipster girls ignore his bulk and talk about things i am too uncool to understand.

Lisa crosses the road, dressed up for work, what a surprise.
"what are you doing here?" she asks
"waiting for something fantastic to happen", i reply.
"you are odd. hey, want to get some lunch? i'm hungry."
"Fantastic."
I smiled.

5 points for mentioning alien cloaking network. You know they are doing it.
I love that you took the description of the "wait" part seriously. It's a lovely description too.
(I just hope you didn't expect her to show up. It would destroy the lovely ending)
