Mirror Installation by Jon Coyne, Rin Brooker, Goddess of Doom and Thievery

April 8th, 2009 1:06 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Install a mirror in a public space.

Just for the music

Rin:The first step to installing mirrors is acquiring mirrors. We decided that one mirror was not enough. We got 2 mirrors from my room. Then we went to the thrift store. The first one we went to didn't have mirrors.

Goddess:However, we (actually i found it) did find a purse bag thing that perfectly matches Raizekiel Malbrandt's knit hat. Its not exactly a normal color to find.....

Rin: We bought the bag and went to another store. They had a mirror. A big one. With a thoothbrush/tooth sticker in the corner.

Jon:The sticker was key to this mirroring.

Rin:So we bought it and put it in the back of Goddess's fail truck named Marcy.

Goddess: That truck is so fail. It doesn't like parking, we had to remove a fuse to keep it from dinging constantly, there's jessica rabbit in the back window, and it says pimp boy on the steering wheel. Also, it has no heaters. It's still quite cold in the morning here. We also had to keep putting rock under the tires so it didn't roll, due to lack of parking brake.

Jon:When ever I climb out of the truck, I can feel the ozone layer dying.

Rin:We had to wait until the next day to install the mirrors due to madatory time wasting (the little bits of school on testing days when nothing happens)

Day 2: Time to execute

Rin:So our first target was a local coffee shop/book store, Pandemonium.our group goes there often and they make a good target. We went to the puppet house in the little kid corner and installed the smallest mirror.

Goddess:Little people only need little mirrors.

Rin:We were scared they would hear the drill. But we got away. There was a cop outside, which made us paranoid. So we left quickly. And headed off to the playground, Wonderland. There's a tower there that only had a slide, and you can see it from the road, so it made a perfect place. We tried getting the screw in from the ground, but we didn't have good leverage. So, Jon went to the top and that worked much better. The mirror was successfully installed. I really liked this one because it felt like humanitain crisis to install the mirror in a useful and fun place.

Jon:That mirror was heavy.

Goddess:And now all the children will remember to brush their teeth.

Rin:The third mirror was going to the park by the lake. We were going to put it on the ceiling of the pavilion. Unfortunatly...

Goddess: OH MY GOD!! THAT WAS SO SCARY!! They put me on Jon's shoulders, then he climbed up on a picnic table. >.<# I'm deathly scared of falling from high places. I felt so unstable up there. And I couldn't get the screw to go in. So we decided to try on one of the wall beam things. I huddled away from human contact for fear they would traumatize me more.

Rin:So we installed the last mirror on one of the beams of the pavilion. A good day's fun.

Jon:Win.

We tried to screw the screw in from the ground but it wasn't working so Jon, being the smart one, climbed up and did it from above.

weird - that play structure looks almost exactly like one in west Berkeley except with snow... uncanny!
