Counting by Libris Craft

July 9th, 2012 9:16 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Count or measure something that has never been counted or measured before. How many CDs can you label with one sharpie? How long does it take for all the ketchup to run out of the bottle? How many times does a trafic light change in an hour? How many licks does it taket to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

What do you wonder about? Find out and let us know.

How many sonnets fit on my leg?

One last task for the wild tasking weekend. We started out with Misanthropolgy writing Shakespeare's sonnets on my leg. And we found that this was much more difficult than at it first seemed. For one thing, legs are quite heavy, and hard to hold up, and secondly, writing on a round elastic surface (like my leg) involves all sorts of contortions.

After our first sonnet (Number 6), we decided to change which way the letters went, hoping that it would be easier. By the end of the second sonnet (Number 7) we were both sick of the whole thing.

It was not glorious. It was not fun. But we did answer the question: How many sonnets can Misanthropology write on Libris Craft's leg before they both decide to say, "Bugger this for a game of soldiers!"?

The answer: 2 sonnets.

What percentage of your leg ended up getting filled with sonnet?

I would say about 1/3. From the pictures, you can see that from ankle to calf was covered, with some blank space to preserve the line structure.

I would guess that we could have fit about 7 sonnets total, but there was absolutely no way we would have made it. Between the physical challenges, and annoyance of writing on skin... Someone else could try again, but I will not be involved.
