Ethereal Cartography by Captain Cutthroat

January 8th, 2009 8:02 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Make a map of something that does not exist physically.

Off and on since I was a young lad, I've dreamed of writing an epic science fiction / fantasy novel. Merciless villains of tragic origin; flawed heroes of peerless valor; a quest of terrible urgency and awful purpose, settings of mythic beauty and fearsome horror, you know, the basics.

Several years ago I began writing many of these ideas down, and have since filled up a notebook and then some with handwritten materials...

... and am amassing a fair amount of digital data.

When I saw this task I immediately thought of the geographic nightmares that are my first attempt at mapping my semi-coherent locations in relation to each other.

You, my fellow players, will be the first to see any of these images, blurry and hastily taken though they be.

Welcome to our game, you've set a respectably high bar for your introduction, and I look forward to your future. Do let us know if another version or incarnation of this madness makes it onto paper.
