Antiwallet Freedom Venture by Rylee Smith

January 17th, 2008 8:26 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: For three days, carry all of the things you normally carry in a wallet or purse in a non-standard receptacle. This receptacle could be a paper bag, a burlap sack, a cup, a piece of soft food, your hand, etc. This task will not be accepted and scored if the receptacle is too standard! No pockets or prefabricated bags - nothing that can be construed as being engineered for carrying credit cards, cash, driver's license, and whatever else you have in your wallet. Extraordinary proofs will be scored accordingly - significant bonus points for baking your personal effects into a cake that you bring around and eat to access items when necessary.

ok while this box may not seem like it would be that difficult.....if you go shopping as much as i do it is! everywhere i went people thought i was stealing the dvd! and there are guards at the entrance and exit to all the stores...in Virgin they actually took it from me and acted very cross! so i reacted the way any girl would if her purse or wallet was taken off her.....im pretty sure i wont be able to go back in without getting funny looks again.....this may not get me point but it was hilarious and fun!

Tell us more about the security encounter! What did you say / do, how did they respond? Did they take it without your permission, or did they ask first?

"miss you have to pay for that before yoyu leave the store"(mock kindness/you theiving idiot tone)
me-pay for what?(continue walking)
this dvd, please take it to the counter! (grabbing purse from my hand)(also at theis point clerks from around the store are making their way over to the scene)
me-hey! thats mine! give it back now! what are you doing!...(me being a brat and generally trying to make a scene at this point)
security man looking very confused
me-thats my purse!(grabbing it back and opening it up)
im sorry i just.........(mumbling of sorrys and embarrassment and sending me on my way)

it was pretty much along the lines of that....most of it pretty sord for word if my memory serves...at most of thew other stores when iwas in the line they were just like "and that?" and i would have to show them it was my purse and at virgin i knew if i just opened it at first it would have been no big deal but i didnt feel i should have to it was my purse!(and i wanted to have a bit of fun!)

They didn't even try to search it after that? You must have been quite convincingly indignant.

I always get annoyed when they try to search the bags I just paid for. I usually simply decline, which tends to leave them somewhat annoyed, but there's not much they can do about it.

Solid.

As a bonus, some fun, minor mayhem was caused.

I'm with you, Potato. I simply decline to open my shopping bag for someone's who's just watched me pay for the contents.
