Take Some Notes by Mantooth

May 2nd, 2007 6:30 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Take some notes.

I work in a corporate environment that makes "The Office" look like Zigfield's Follies. It is, most decidedly, NOT a smash hit....unlike every other single area of my life.

However, once in awhile, kismet strikes and I was able to simultaneously take "team meeting" notes while fulfilling this task.

Additionally, one of our vendors did a presentation before the meeting which always translates into free food and useless, office schwag. Especially nice was the "Panic(tm) Spanish plaquard which translates among others, the phrases:

"Call your lawyer." (Llame a su abogado)
"Call your doctor." (Llame al doctor)
"I'll call an interpreter" (Llamo a un interprete)

Awesome. All of that's pretty useful to the budding Spanish-speaking conversationalist.

At any rate, for your persusal and subsequent judgement are my notes and pics of the schwag.

Enjoy the joy.

At the team meetings, we give out "kudos" to employees who have done productive things. You also get an actual "Kudos" snack bar if you get a kudo. I shit you not.

A planner, some post-its, a pen....Jesus....it's a wonder we have to buy office products at all.

This sucks. My crappy camera can't fully capture the magic of Panic(tm) Spanish. If you would like a copy - or transcript - feel free to message me.

i for one would like some more info on this panicspanish.

i often find myself panicking for tasty burritoes and though i speak the language of cervantes well for a gringo some ready-made colloquialisms to assuage my nerves would be much appreciated.

I don't understand - No entiendo
I am sorry - Lo siento
Just a moment - Un momento
Please - Por Favor
Do not hang up - No cuelgue
I'll call an interpreter - Llamo a un interprete
Thank You - Gracias
If you have questions - Si tiene preguntas
Call this number - Llame a este numero
What is your phone number? - Cual es su numero de telefono?
Do you have any questions - Tiene preguntas?
What is your name? - Como se llama usted?
Where do you work? - Donde trabaja usted?
Call the Doctor - Llame al doctor
Call your lawyer - Llame a su abogado
The check has been sent - El cheque fue enviado

And it goes on like that - I'll try and scan in the actual "Panic Spanish" plaquard at some point and post it here.

first of all I'd like to say, kudos to Mantooth for turning me on to this damnable SF0 and then I'd like to say, is that a botched Twisted Sister logo over your writing "kudos" on your notes?
