Placepoem by The Time Traveler

November 29th, 2011 7:58 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Write a poem about your favorite place, by only assembling text you find in that place.

1. Go to the place you want to write a poem about.
2. Find some text. E.g. street signs, advertising posters, graffiti, garbage etc.
3. Document the text you find - take pictures, or just note down what you find and where.
4. Cut and paste until you have a poem.
5. Post it here, along with documentation of the texts and the place.

Rules: You may insert three words which are your own (that you have not found on the location).

(Disclaimer: This task is inspired by the textopia research project, textopia.org . If you find it interesting, please put your poem there as well (and a sound recording of it), and a special place in heaven will be reserved for you!)

my father's old apartment. he hasn't lived there in a long time, but it was easy enough to go back. traveling along one's own timeline is more difficult, but doable- and it was nice to see it again.

i timed my arrival with one of his business trips, and had the place to myself. i spent a few minutes in my memory before collecting words, but i'm easily distracted from missions, it's nothing new. ha.

I'll put my poem first:

Let’s stay young- you, me
_____The imaginary heroes- bulletproof Russians in love

I know your uncivil seasons (hope out of nowhere)
_____Overconfidence calling, too involved in survival
You’re doing too much (why limit first class?)
_____I never let small lonely boys off forever
I need cheap thrills (it’s the homicide season)
_____Careless kiss- don’t!

Fighting jade angels for hours (total: twelve)
_____You Romanized treachery for valor
Rhino down! You say ‘want to go?’
_____Why?
For tea from the duke on his world
_____Yes, Crusaders enjoy convenient culture

Any time of war crushed it
_____‘best’. ‘natural’. Collapsible!
Think, ‘worth it’?
_____No.

Ah,
_____A precursor for your voice
Following many a day, Return after traffic
_____First by riptide, then road-street!
Better now with little inches
_____By way this metal tube

Onward!

Three secrets in charity (saying ‘use the dark machine’)
_____Can uses of the seventh power air charity with faith?

Together, me and you welcome the blind moon
_____God’s archer with a raincoat
I am original in times of serpents
_____Classic old ways end at the Atlantic
With sayings read of red
_____Seen in the way
Don’t try these.
_____Or breathe the monkey’s coffee

Remember not to let us hope
_____Spirits cross the perfect man
Weeds don’t witness the return of light
_____The faraway man’s nightmare
Lower than is natural
_____Empty life soothes other bees

Circle the solo moon
_____Burst affairs in culture
Ask not- the Stonehenge day
_____A case of bone and pain
Art aware can triple delight
_____And release me of friend or foe
Help support your healing elements
_____And any gorilla of cream

Novel. Let’s double it.

With Gemini spice as weather
_____This street for gold sweeps magic away
With hollyhock leaf for day
_____And your best speech
Please both or more
_____ In this place…
__________Use.

i like the structure of this poem. why are there bees and cod in your father's bathroom? I knew people were taking on all kinds of new roomates, the economy being what it is, but bees?
