Placepoem by gh◌st ᵰⱥ₥ing

January 12th, 2010 6:27 PM / Location: 41.879444,-87.62388

INSTRUCTIONS: Write a poem about your favorite place, by only assembling text you find in that place.

1. Go to the place you want to write a poem about.
2. Find some text. E.g. street signs, advertising posters, graffiti, garbage etc.
3. Document the text you find - take pictures, or just note down what you find and where.
4. Cut and paste until you have a poem.
5. Post it here, along with documentation of the texts and the place.

Rules: You may insert three words which are your own (that you have not found on the location).

(Disclaimer: This task is inspired by the textopia research project, textopia.org . If you find it interesting, please put your poem there as well (and a sound recording of it), and a special place in heaven will be reserved for you!)

placepoem

Thin washes of sky, doves,
apostles of beauty.

Arrayed on a simple tabletop
still-life, a treasure hunt:
in natural light, asparagus,
           tea, roots,
women.

Hartley and Daniel—
family from hints of gray
tonality, dunes and vegetation.
“...the body is so fine and dear,
          almost without end from him.”

Wind-swept workers swing
a series of wax,
          a field of snow, uniform
American Nature multihued
and sparking.

In this memory, crowned queen
of paradise, the modern
          subject

model
          landscape,
braille gold touch saint
looks at nature,
its title
          and perspective

monochromatic nature,
nature massive, deliberate

existing and new.

Notes:

Notes:

This is a work in progress. The above was assembled after ten trips (with intent) to the location. So far, I have used one word of my own: braille. Individual drafts have been and will be taped beneath various public benches in select gallery rooms. When the text reaches a resting state I will make a recording of it and post it here with the proof.

Nice!
I like how you've given words to a place full of images; a museum...DEEP!
Can't wait to see the rest
