Dead Shoe Revival by Narg Talia

Theses shoes were once my mother's, then they were my aunts, then last year around this time they became mine. They've been around somewhere around ten years and I only wore them once. So I chose to paint them and marker them and give them one last go around the city.

I chose to write 'Don't Quit' on the bottom because there's this magnet on my parent's refrigerator that says that, that I always kind of found reassuring. I saw some graffiti the other day that said "you are beautiful" and I want people to look up and read them, then maybe feel like they should keep going with whatever they are doing, maybe not feel so disillusioned with life. That might be my own delusion of grandeur but oh well. I'm about to take them out for a spin, I'll post more pictures and let you know how it goes and where they make their final rest.
later: So my adventure was had. First my shoes and I had to hop on my bike.

From there I wasn't really sure what to do with myself so I just started going. I visited my boyfriend at work where we had our first disagreement, so shoes were there for that. I went to Washington Square Park but it didn't feel very special or adventurous. I did however discover a hazardous tree zone, which means a tree is somehow leaking fluid from what I could tell. I decided I should take shoes to a place I had never been before. So shoes and I went to Penn's Landing.
My boyfriend had talked about going there to walk and write and somehow I never made it over. It's really beautiful with some great views. I had good thinking time and enjoyed some writing of my own. There was a boat docked up there and I think it hosted some form of cabaret normally. There was a guy on there that watched me the whole time until I left, which was kind of weird but I guess kind of interesting.
After a few hours there I met my boyfriend again and we made up properly. While he closed up shop I made my shoes ready for their send off. I wanted to put them up over a place I considered home. We road our bikes to his apartment and soon to be our apartment. I didn't think I could throw them high enough so he tried his hand first.

I was the one who eventually made it over the lines.

So now shoes will live forever just over our door on Kater Street
