BUN BUN & OMBWAHS BOTANICAL INDEPENDANCE DAY!
Being the odd bunny that I am.. I dont get out much and/or (as of yet) do tasks that are not of a depth that either peeks my sense of curiousity or touches my heart. But This one! Well this one was a Must as being a regular old tree hugger it planted a seed of excitment in me soul. And Even More so We recently Moved across the country to a home that was, we shall say NOT so well kept by the last tenants, If you will. But of course there was good that came of this. They left me having free reign over the Planters and such..And boy did they need it. I like to play in the dirt though so it was alll good. So during our morning coffee awaiting the evening events, I spot Ombwah browsing the SF0 site. Thinking I had time on me hands and My last task being journey to the end of the night in october.. Best fun EVER btw.. figured it was time. I decided to peek about and see if there is anything I can do that might coinside with our plans and or the holiday. And BEHOLD Birnam Wood catches me eye, And its AbSOLUTEly Perfect!! A tree Striving for Independance, and the freedom I have to give it such Independance. *nods firmly* I say "Hey honey look.. we can give a tree its freedom and task all at the same time.. not to mention get that tree out of the planter." *giggles* Hey says "Thats GReat, lets do it!" and the plan is set.
And so wielding my shovel and gloves, I get to work freeing the little guy.. which I have named you guessed it, Independance! <3 Now luckily I had already been at work in the planter and had removed MOST of the dead thorny swords that most assuredly fought against independances release. Mind their failure was inevitable, for I refused to be turned away by measly thorn swords. The Iris blanket was tricky also but that too, could not detour me from my task. At last we free our tree from his prison and get him nice a snuggled into a bag for transfer to his new home on the waterfront.
Now it was still daytime when we arrived at our trees new promise land, and we did not want him to be nervous so we let him hide in the car till dusk. Ombwah and I had walked about..IN the rain..looking for the perfect spot. In the end it was a spot rather close to the car so this was a bonus. I picked a spot off the beaten path but not concealed. it was a lovely spot right next to an agriculture ditch and under the shade of a mighty cottonwood. We could not have picked a better spot I think. :) Now because it was off the beaten path it was covered in various foliage so digging was tough at first. It was then that I appreciated the rain that had been nonstop for the last 2 hours, as it helped soften the soil a good deal. I let Ombwah finish off the digging as I retrieved our little friend from his chariot.
I forgot to mention that as we dug we were watching at least 6 different firework displays from all directions.. it was Smashing! I could not help but keep grinning and giggling knowing what we were doing, wondering what our neighbors thought about these random people planting a tree on the 4th of july, whilst watching fireworks. LoL, still makes me laugh. I also forgot to mention we had a straight shot view of the ranger station. Ombwah was sure to take a pic to show it. Bunch of rebals..:P
It was a great sense of freedom to plant independance.. but I also got a little broody and started talking to him like he was me own. Made sure to bring along a good deal of potting soil to help him along on his first steps too. I was covered in dirt and smiles by the end and Ombwah and I took a good shot of his new home and mentor, Mr Cottonwood. And then we said our goodbyes and goodlucks and retreated to the RV to clean up...hehe ooopsy white rugs.. uhoh! I found soil in my pocket for goodness sakes. *giggles*
In the end I think Independance earned his freedom and celebrated his 4th of july in style!
