Monitor police communications. by Piscean Electron

Ahhh, Here's one up my alley. Monitor police communications. I borrowed my friend's scanner and programmed in the appropriate frequencies.

Placing the earphone in my ear, and into the device, I was able to hear the sounds undetected.

Now to hop in my car and do some police watching. First I went to a vehicle stop, with a driver's license check.

Next I observed a foot patrol. They seemed to be hassling the usual crowd that hangs in this area. They wrote some tickets for drinking in public.

I'm not sure if this woman was an officer or not, but she walked with the foot patrol officers as they went about their business. In training or an actual plainclothes officer?

Later on a woman was pushed into a car by two males, and she was yelling for someone to call 911. The cops issued a county wide ROPE with a limited vehicle description. Police cars were all over looking in the area. In 20 minutes they found the car with the engine warm. No one was inside. They tracked the owner of the vehicle down but I did not catch the rest of the incident...

Nice. Better than just listening on a scanner, you actually went and DID something.

Thanks for the votes and comments! This is a really fun exercise if you can get a hold of a scanner. It helps to have a car and to know your city really well, or have a phone with Google maps so you can look up stuff. You learn how police work in your town.

Nice work actually going around and getting some insight into what the police are doing. Very good. Welcome!
