Public Smear Campaign by Pixie Devil

December 18th, 2007 12:13 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Create a public smear campaign against another player, friend or stranger. Your smear campaign should be multimedia.

I decided to start a smear campaign against that most evil of evil- Thomas the Tank Engine! To start, I created a blog to call out the evilness of Thomas. This can be seen at http://evilthomas.blogspot.com After two postings, I decided that the blog was not getting enough attention brought to my cause, so I decided to take my cause to the people! I created 42 buttons stating "STOP THOMAS" and distributed as many of them as I could. Most people took one with little question. I guess this is normal. These people who displayed their buttons passed on the word about the evilness of Thomas to those who asked about their buttons (yay!). I did encounter some opposition while handing out buttons, but there were only about three people. Still not satisfied with the public awareness of the evilness of Thomas, I created a doorknob hanger (yes only one) with a plea to continue the cause by passing the doorknob hanger on. It had to be rescued from the trash once, but other than that it has traved from door to door and from floor to floor in the dorms here. Take that Thomas!

On your website, you say:

"I have further proof (that Thomas is evil)! Thomas is a hermaphrodite!

and further:

“He” lies to children about the most basic of concepts: gender. It’s simply shameful!

What, pray tell, is wrong with being hermaphroditic? And since when has gender ever been a simple concept? There are areas of study dedicated to researching gender and sexuality.

I love Thomas, and though I've never seen the said real life traveling exhibit, I definitely watched the show (hosted by Ringo from the Beatles). And it was great. And Thomas is great, whether he's a hermaphrodite, a trans (vestite/gendered/sexual), gay or lesbian, castrated, bilingual, polyamourus...for when you're a kid, you don't recognize any of those identifiers.

In the reality of play and imagination, he's just a train in need of a pronoun.

I remember liking the show when I was little. Who knew Thomas was just trying to corrupt (??) me

I was always a little annoyed with James the train. Wasn't that the whiney one or was it Percy? Also the conductor was a bit weird, but overall I think that it's a magical show. Not quite as magical as Zebeedee and the Magic Roundabout, well less drug addled anyway.
