Ridiculous Protest by Rabbit, Rubin Starset

April 12th, 2007 12:23 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Protest something ridiculous (and not just the goverment), something that isn't normally protested, and is unlikely to change because of your protest.

Examples: the color of the sky, fashion statements, rubin's mom.. etc..

Make signs. Hit the streets.

Bonus if you get others to join in your protest.

The point of this is not so much to create change (though if it does, even better!.. and please document it), but to create awareness and silliness.

There is a magical building in Oakland. One that contains great wonder, interesting people, and exciting gatherings regularly. When this residence was first established, it was without a name. It looked like a Fort and various Fort names were thrown around for awhile. Due to the indecisiveness on a name for the residence, the rest of us started calling it Fort Something, at first in jest, but later as a common name for it. The inhabitants were not huge fans of the name and continued to try to come up with an appropriate title. They eventually arrived at Cakebread Castle. There was instant revolt and rejection from the non-residents. Something had to be done about this atrocity. There was no way we could stand for this to be the name of the Fort. Rubin Starset and I mounted a protest late one night.

Whether it was a victory or not is unclear. Many of us still refer to it as Fort Something, and the residents go back and forth. In an attempt to further confuse things, one resident even named this pyramid "Fort Something" and declaring that the true Fort could no longer be called Fort Something because of this. There was some talk of going on strike when we were gathering momentum on this, but we currently we believe that wouldn't be prudent at this juncture.

normally i really do like it when people don't just use past things they've done for new tasks, but i really did like your protest and it is in the spirit of sf0 and was done while you've been playing...

When I did it I could have sworn there was a task already created.

We used to have a different protest-related task, I think.

yeah, while we were doing it we kept saying "there's gotta be an sf0 task for this" but got caught up in things and never went hunting for it. Then I saw this task pop-up and knew I had to submit it. Besides 4 out of 5 Fort residents are sf0 players. :)
