1000 Small (Heavy) Things by star5, Celina

March 23rd, 2007 6:32 PM / Location: 44.960015,-93.27399

INSTRUCTIONS: Buy or acquire 1000 small, and if possible heavy things. Bolts or nuts (including the edible kind) would be good. Transport them to a public space (preferably carpeted) and drop them on the ground. You may drop them all in one place, or you may drop them slowly, perhaps forming a trail of some kind. If anyone harasses you, apologize profusely and then leave.

6 trays, 60 icecubes per tray, 3 batches + water + 6 colors of food coloring = 1080 small colored icecubes

We made a trail of icecubes through a path through the park of too many benches. The trail led to a balloon flower in the middle. It was a warmer day than we would have liked, but at least a few people, a dog and a squirrel discovered the trail of cubes before they melted away. They were all a bit confused. I think the squirrel thought we were dropping some nice treats.. but was quickly disappointed.

Very Aesthematics, very nicely done. Those looked tasty even when I knew they were ice cubes.

if this weren't retired it'd have my vote. Some of the up close pics you got were great. And I sincerely appreciate their resemblance to dots!!!

great job!

you can vote on retired tasks. the points, and perhaps more importantly (if you feel as I do), the votes go to their total in the era of the task's completion, so these would go to ImpEx. And all time, of course.

you made minneapolis gumdrops! ...they perhaps survived for longer in chillier weather?

not sure why, but they remind me of this place. i once visited long ago.
